Wei Jingsheng Slams Beijing for Sowing Discords in Relations Between People on Both Sides of the Taiwan Strait and Calls for Vigilance Against the CCP’s United Front
 — Radio Free Asia report

Wei Jingsheng, chairman of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition, publicly called for vigilance against the United Front of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on Friday, and criticized Beijing for stirring up dissention between the people of Taiwan and Mainland China.   On the same day, Wei Jingsheng attended the “The Defense of Freedom, Democracy and Human Rights — 2022 International Media Symposium on Chinese Democracy” hosted by the Sino Euro Voice and co-organized by the headquarters of the Front for a Democratic China.

According to Taiwan Central News Agency, this year’s conference has three issues related to Taiwan, namely “Defending Taiwan is the theme of democratic politics in this century”, “Oppose the war in the Taiwan Strait and maintain peace in Asia”, and “The crisis in the Taiwan Strait”.

Wei Jingsheng pointed out in his speech that the wave of opposition against the CCP in major Western countries is on the rise, but it is necessary to be vigilant and properly deal with the penetration of the CCP into the West and trying to divide and disintegrate anti-communist forces.  The CCP is stirring up dissention between ethnic minorities and the Han nationality, between the people of Taiwan and the Mainland China, and within the various opposition parties.  All the United Front work by the CCP against opposition parties should not be taken lightly.

According to reports, the attendees of the symposium included more than 60 politicians, scholars, human rights experts and pro-democracy activists from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Taiwan, the Netherlands, India, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, China and other countries and regions.
